Where should I position smokescreen
To get the best scan please position the scanner either on a flat surface or on a wall at above shoulder height - this forces the finger to be stretched and flat - additionally locate the scanner where the customer can scan, facing straight onto the scanner
We have been overwhelmed by the numbers going out at a single time
A. In set up you can limit the total number of people allowed outside at any one time A. You can use the VIP/RAPID setting this means that the customer only registers once at the beginning of the night or the first time they exit and can then re-enter as many times as you allow. With this method you will lose the function of counting how many are outside at anyone time and the ability to limit the amount of time allowed outside, but it will be faster NOTE YOUR SYSTEM CAN HOLD MAXIMUM OF 2000 scans so you must clear the VIP at the start of each new session. OPTION 3 VIP THEN OPTION 3 CLEAR VIP DATABASEA. Many large venues are linking two systems together, with this method you can use one unit to register customers and the other for entry only i.e one unit at the cash desk, if they arte a smoker they register at the time of paying, when they return from being outside they register on the slave unit position at the entrance point, if you would like to order a second slave unit please call us on 0207 345 5278
My customers can\'t remember which finger they scanned
Always get your customers to use either the right index finger
Customers are trying it on saying they have already scanned
If a customer attempts to rescan within 20 seconds of their first scan a audio alert will sound "WARNING REPEAT SCAN ATTEMPTED" Alternatively in set-up (option 6) you can select the function for each new scan to be confirmed by your doorman. You can link two systems together using either CAT 5 or through your electric circuit; with this method you can use one unit to register customers and the other for entry only.
The fingerprint will not register
The default setting on your system is set to a high point match ratio to avoid any chance of duplication, therefore a good image must be taken. Ask the customer to place the finger centrally and firmly. Customers with "builders hand" may need to add a small element of moisture to their finger by first rubbing it on the palm of their hand. The scanner will not take an image when the green or red light on the unit is on. The scanner could be dirty i.e from moisturiser THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAN your scanner is by placing sellotape across the screen and lifting - DO NOT RUB WITH A CLOTH OR LICKThe customer is scanning their finger at an angle - scan facing straight on
The screen freezes
This might happen one time in every 5000 scans; simply unplug the power supply from the underside of the unit and re-plug - this will reboot your system and NONE! of your data will be lost . If this happens more frequently please contact us and we will replace the system if it is still in warranty

CLUBSCAN - Data Protection Compliant Idscan, which produces security, age-verification, data management, biometric and marketing solutions for the leisure, construction and security industries found its flagship product Clubscan under scrutiny after anti-ID card Conservative, Shadow Home Affairs Secretary, James Brokenshire MP, questioned its Data Protection compliance in a letter to the Information Commissioner. Clubscan which is a high-speed software system that verifies an unprecedented range of personal ID including passports, driving licenses and national identity cards, is used to combat underage drinking, identify violent customers and stem the rise of the UK’s emerging ‘yob-culture’ in the licensed trade. 100% of clubscan customers have never failed an under-age test purchase test, whilst the national average sits above 35%. As a result of a letter written by James Brokenshire MP to the Information Commissioner, Tam Thompson Managing Director of Idscan requested a meeting with the ICO and subsequently met the ICO on Wednesday the 8th August. As a result of that meeting Phil Jones, the Director of Data Protection Practice and the Assistant Commissioner wrote to Mr Thompson on the 9th August, confirming that there is nothing inherently illegal in venues using clubscan and that considerable attention has been paid to seeking to ensure the data captured is held securely. Mr Jones stated that it is certainly not the case that venues using the system will be in inevitably in breach of the data protection act. Additionally a release has been posted on the ICO website confirming details of this letter. Click here Assistant Commissioner Phil Jones said “having had the equipment demonstrated to us and seen some of the literature users are provided with reminding them of their data protection responsibilities, we are satisfied that the company takes data protection and privacy considerations seriously. Considerable attention has been paid to seeking to ensure the data captured is held securely. In summary, we are satisfied that it is certainly not the case that anyone using the equipment will inevitably be in breach of the Data Protection Act 1998.” Tam Thompson said of the meeting “Meeting with the ICO has been a constructive process, when we first contacted the ICO in 2005 requesting guidance for our new technology there was none available, we will now work with the ICO, who over the next few weeks will visit a handful of venues to see if guidance is necessary and to ensure that any guidance which is issued to our customers is informed and relevant. We have been surprised and saddened that James Brokenshire MP has at no time attempted to contact us with any of his concerns”

How long should I keep information for
Clubscan comes with a Purge Feature for you to remove from marketing, details of customers who have not attended your venue in the past month, six month or past year. You must determine your policy. Additionally clubscan comes with a purge feature to remove all customers that have not attended for three years- this is (in our opionion) the absolue maximum time that you shoud retain details; this time period falls in line with the statute of limitations on "slip and trip" claims and other liabilities that you may be responsible for.
The Data protection Act states that you should not keep the information for longer than deemed necessary - it is our opining that three years should be the maximum not the minimum.

What are the details about your Blue2 Bluetooth USB adapter
The data sheet for our Blue2 Go adapter is available below - although independent tests prove 300m pier to pier connectivity we are more comfortable with a range of 150m to 250m - The Blue2 bluetooth adapter is the only adapter that we are aware of with a built in antenna for extra range and speed.
We always advise using a USB extender and placing your bluetooth adapter in the best possible position for distance. In our own office we use a 5 meter extender and hang the blue2 adapter outside our window wrapped in a plastic bag.
We will be soon releasing longer range solutions

Some phones ask for a code to pair?
Blue2 is unique in the market as it is the only software that send out a preset 0000 and 1234 code with your message packet - if phone owners have self determined that their pairing code is unique then Blue2 will not pair.
Blackberry Pearl & Iphone
Blue2 will reach Blackberrys, however, neither blackberry not Iphones support Bluetooth OBEX Messaging and are unique in the matter.
Apple recognise the problem as a serious issue and we understand that there will be a firmware fix very soon

Bluetooth not covered by ICO guidance
October 11 2007
Following discussions with the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and others the Information Commissioner’s Office has amended its guidance on the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. The guidance previously stated that marketing messages sent using Bluetooth technology would be subject to PECR rules relating to the sending of unsolicited marketing. However, the Regulations only apply to messages sent over a public electronic communications network and we have concluded that Bluetooth messages are not in fact sent using such a network. We have amended our guidance accordingly. It is for government to decide whether the law should be changed to cover such marketing. We would like to stress that regardless of whether a particular technology is covered by PECR, consumers are increasingly aware of, and concerned about, the sophisticated methods of sending marketing to them and it is good practice to take their concerns into account when devising a responsible marketing strategy. We would urge marketers considering the use of Bluetooth technology to consult industry guidelines on good marketing practice.

I have a toshiba laptop and my Blue2 does not work.
Should you find that Blue2 does not work on your Toshiba Laptop we have identified that toshiba do not use the two stacks (controls) commonly used by bluetoothe products. They have made their own.
If you click START and then RUN type in "devmgmt.msc" and press the enter key.
Under Bluetooth you may find 2 of these or more listed.
If you do then this is why it is not working. Thank you toshiba for altering windows to suit your requirements.
Ok so how do we fix this?
You can download a program from thier website which from within the application you can specify which drivers you want the laptop to use.
please download from http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/blt-mon-20070713153246.zip
You need the system to work with the "microsoft enumerator" not the RFBNEP.
Should you have any further problems in setting this up you will have to contact toshiba as it is a problem with their software and not Blue2's
